New Music Feature for WhatsApp Status

WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to incorporate music into their status updates, similar to functionalities already available on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

The messaging app, owned by Meta, is gradually implementing this update, enabling users to add soundtracks to their photo or video statuses. This enhancement aligns WhatsApp with other social media platforms where music-infused updates have become commonplace.

WhatsApp statuses are temporary updates that vanish after 24 hours and can be viewed in a user's profile circle. With the introduction of this feature, users can now enhance their statuses with music, making them more vibrant and engaging. The rollout is happening in stages and is expected to reach users worldwide in the upcoming weeks.

Meta has announced that a vast library of songs will be accessible to users. When creating a new status, users can click on the music icon located at the top of the screen to search for a specific track by name or artist, or they can choose from popular songs trending in their area. For photo statuses, the music clip can last up to 15 seconds, while video statuses can feature music clips of up to 60 seconds.

Steps to Add Music to Your WhatsApp Status:

  • Start by creating a new status with a photo or video.

  • Click the music icon at the top of the screen.

  • Search for a song or artist, or select one from the suggested list.

  • Click the arrow next to the track to choose it.

  • You can even select your favorite segment of the track to highlight.

Alternative Method to Add Music:

  • While viewing another user's music status, tap the song title at the top.

  • From the menu, choose 'Add a status with music' to use the same track.

In a recent update for iPhone users, WhatsApp can now be set as the default app for messaging and calling. This feature, available in the latest iOS update, allows users to select WhatsApp directly from their system's default app settings.
