Popular social media platform WhatsApp has taken a big action on Indian users. In January 2025, the platform banned about 99 lakh Indian accounts. This information is shared in its monthly report by this platform owned by Meta itself. The purpose of this action is to keep the platform safe and curb the wrong activities.

This report has been released under Information Technology (Intermediate Guidelines and Digital Media Athics Code) Rules, Rule 4 (1) (D) and 3A (7) of 2021. The report clarified that this action has been taken to prevent fake accounts, spam messages and fraud activities.
Which accounts were banned?

Apart from this, 9,474 complaints were received from users in this month, out of which special action was taken on 239 cases. Based on these complaints, not only the account was banned, but WhatsApp also informed India's Grives Officer by email and postal mail.

How to ban WhatsApp accounts?
WhatsApp security system works in many layers. This includes the three -phase monitoring process:
Monitoring on registration: If any suspicious activity is detected at the time of creating an account, that account is immediately blocked.
Monitoring during messaging: If a user sends too much message or spaming, its account is banned by the automated system.
Action on the user's report: If a user report is found wrong, then his account is banned.
Why is this strictness of WhatsApp important?
This action was very important in view of the increasing fake and fraud activities on WhatsApp. This not only ensures the safety of users, but also increases the reliability of the platform.
If your account is also banned and you want to recover it, you can contact the helpline of WhatsApp or file a complaint on their official portal.
