WhatsApp is working on a UPI Lite feature for its users, which will allow transactions of small amounts without entering a PIN. According to reports, this feature will further simplify the transaction process of WhatsApp. This information has come to light during an APK teardown, in which code strings related to UPI Lite have been found in WhatsApp's beta version 2.25.5.17.
Fast and easy payments with UPI Lite
UPI Lite is a system that makes small payments possible even without an internet connection. It has been developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and is used for transactions less than Rs 500. It is linked to the mobile number of users and makes the payment process faster.
This new feature of WhatsApp can facilitate payments that do not fail even when the server is busy. This will allow users to make payments in a single click. Also, they will be able to add and withdraw money from this platform anytime, although this feature will be active only on the device where it is set and will not be available on other connected devices.
Bill payment facility on WhatsApp also soon
WhatsApp is constantly working towards improving financial services for Indian users. According to recent reports, the company may soon bring facilities like electricity bills, mobile recharge, water bills, house rent, gas bills, and postpaid landline bill payment on its platform. WhatsApp already offers a UPI payment facility, where users can link their bank account to WhatsApp and make transactions. The addition of UPI Lite will make this facility even simpler, especially for small payments.
