Obnews Tech Desk: Whatsapp is preparing to launch a bill payment feature in India soon. According to a recently revealed report, this new feature has been indicated in Beta version 2.25.3.15 of Whatsapp. This update shows that Meta is expanding its financial services and working towards making digital payments easier in India.
Whatsapp gives payment service in advance
Currently, WhatsApp users in India can transfer money and pay business through UPI (Unified Payments Interface). But now META is planning to introduce such a feature, so that users will be able to pay their necessary bills directly from WhatsApp.
Which bills will be paid?
According to Whatsapp Beta version, this new feature will facilitate payment of these category bills:
- Electricity bill
- Mobile prepaid recharge
- LPG Gas Payment
- water bill
- Landline postpaid bill
- rent payment
Whatsapp pay will get new strength
Whatsapp has more than 40 crore active users in India, making it the world's largest market. Whatsapp Pay already facilitates UPI transactions, but the new bill payment feature can make it a direct rival of services like PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm.

An official announcement may be soon
However, no official announcement has been made by Meta or WhatsApp regarding this feature so far. But the code indications found in the beta version indicate that its testing may start soon and in the upcoming update it can be rolled out for users.
