Giving information in its statement, the RBI has said that on the day of the announcement of the note to withdraw the note, at the time of the business of the business, the Rs 3.56 lakh crore notes worth Rs 3.56 lakh crore were present. This figure has come down to Rs 6,577 crore at the time of trading close on 31 January 2025. The RBI has said that in this way, the total of 2000 rupee notes residing in the trend till May 19, 2023 has returned 98.15 percent. The facility of depositing or replacing 2000 rupee notes was provided by the Reserve Bank of India in the branches of all banks by 7 October 2023. These facilities are currently available in 19 Issood offices of the Reserve Bank.

Even after being withdrawn from the trend, 2000 rupee notes remain valid currency. These notes were brought in November 2016 after the then Rs 1000 and 500 rupee notes were removed from circulation.
