If you are using the old iPhone model or older version of iOS, you may soon face the problem of whatsapp shutdown. Whatsapp had already announced that the app would not work on versions before iOS 15.1 from 5 May 2025. But now a report by Wabetainfo claimed that this change has already come into force.
Whatsapp’s new decision
According to WABETAINFO, Whatsapp Beta for iOS 25.2.10.72 version available on the Testflight app will no longer work on older devices from iOS 15.1. This means that iPhone users who have an old version from iOS 15.1 will no longer be able to install the new beta version of WhatsApp.
WABETAINFO shared screenshot
Wabetainfo shared a screenshot on X (Twitter), showing that the new beta version of WhatsApp is not being installed on the old iOS version devices. Due to this, such users will be able to use the old beta version for only one month, because Whatsapp Beta Build comes with an expiry date.
Whatsapp completely closed after May 2025
- After 5 May 2025, Whatsapp will be completely closed on all devices before iOS 15.1.
- Next, Whatsapp will not be used on iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
- Users will have to install the latest version of new iPhone models or iOS.
Check your iOS version like this
If you want to know whether this update will affect you or not, check your iOS version:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on General option.
- Click on Software Version.
If your iPhone iOS is running 14 or older versions, then you have to install iOS 15.1 or a new version. If your device does not support updates, then you have to buy a new iPhone to use WhatsApp.
