WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to schedule events in individual chats. A website that tracks WhatsApp features has reported that this functionality is being tested on the WhatsApp Beta 2.25.1.18 update for Android. Previously, the event scheduling feature was introduced for group chats and Community Announcements groups. The new update brings this capability to individual chats. The feature provides users with tools to create events with a mandatory name, optional description, date, time, location, and even the option to link an audio or video call.
According to a report by WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing the ability for users to create events in individual chats, which works similarly to the existing function in group and Community announcement groups. Users can name the event, add an event description, and set a fixed date and time for the event.
Other options can also be included when creating an event, such as attaching an end time and location or adding an audio/video call link. This feature can prove to be particularly useful for virtual meetings, as the linked call can initiate direct communication at the scheduled time. Once created, the event is automatically shared in the chat and the receiver is alerted, allowing them to respond by accepting or rejecting the invite.
The report further states that the feature aims to make event planning easier for personal conversations. For example, a tutor and student can schedule a private tuition session, including necessary details such as time and location, or link it to a video call for an online session.
Apart from this, the Meta-owned platform may soon introduce a new feature to deal with the problem of fake pictures circulating on WhatsApp Web. A report claims that the platform is working on a new reverse image search feature, through which users can find out the authenticity of the picture themselves. This will be similar to Google's reverse image search, in which Google Image Search allows users to find out the real background of photos. This feature can be accessed through the overflow menu on WhatsApp Web, which will be activated by tapping the three-dot button in the image viewing interface. The feature will perform a reverse image search through Google.
