Bank of Dave has returned to Netflix with a sequel titled The Loan Ranger, featuring Dave Fishwick (portrayed by Rory Kinnear) taking on payday lenders. Both films have captivated audiences nationwide, with the debut film springing a surprise cameo from rock band Def Leppard.

Witnessing the struggles of local businesses and residents amidst the , Lancashire's own Dave decided to establish his personal bank. He continues to battle against dominant high street banks and predatory payday lenders to this day.

In a scene where Dave organises a charity event for his bank, Def Leppard make a guest appearance. However, this was purely a fictional addition to the storyline.

Dave Fishwick is an admirer of the Sheffield-based band, and their involvement in the plot was purely cinematic. Back in March 2022, the band hinted at their participation in the film.

They posted a snapshot on X, previously known as , showcasing their stage setup with the iconic Def Leppard logo in the backdrop. They captioned the image "Fun time this past weekend! #Tempo_productions #NetflixUK #bankofdavefilm."

The stage was constructed specifically for the band's cameo at a film studio near Leeds, intended to depict Burnley F. C.'s Turf Moor football stadium.

Overjoyed to meet his idols, Dave Fishwick shared the band's social media post with the message: "This was Amazing, Thank-you so much @DefLeppard You were Brilliant!! It was great to meet you all!".

Def Leppard's frontman Joe Elliott likened the film to "like the new Full Monty" during a chat with Planet Radio about the band's contribution.

He revealed: "What they did is they kind of wrote us into the story and they've obviously enhanced the story somewhat because our part in the movie didn't really happen.

"One of his mates, the character of one of his friends knows me for 30 years and says, 'I think I might be able to get Def Leppard to do a fundraiser for you.'

"So, long story short, we do this fundraiser at Turf Moor (Burnley's football stadium) to raise money so he can start this bank and help out all the locals that were getting no help from the banks.

"We got to perform three songs in this movie. I don't know how many will survive or hit the cutting room floor, but you always over film so that they've got enough. We all really thought it was a cute thing."

Dave has been battling to get Burnley Loans and Savings recognised as a bank, but as of now, it hasn't received the official recognition.
