WhatsApp Pay: As the year 2024 comes to an end, the well-known popular chatting platform WhatsApp has got great news. NPCI has removed the user onboarding limit on WhatsApp with immediate effect. This means that WhatsApp can now extend UPI services to the entire user base across the country. However, for this WhatsApp Pay will have to fully comply with the UPI rules.
NPCI gives big relief to WhatsApp Pay
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has removed the UPI user onboarding limit for WhatsApp Pay (third-party app provider) with immediate effect. After this, WhatsApp Pay can now extend UPI service to its entire user base in India.
What was the rule earlier?
Earlier, NPCI had allowed WhatsApp Pay to expand its UPI user base in a phased manner. With this notification, NPCI is removing the limit restriction on user onboarding on WhatsApp Pay. WhatsApp Pay will continue to comply with all existing UPI guidelines and circulars applicable to existing TPAPs.
