Bank Holidays in January 2025: During the month of January, banks are scheduled to remain closed for a total of 13 days due to both national and regional holidays. 

Customers are advised to schedule their bank-related errands and appointments in the month after taking into account the complete holiday schedule of banks in January. Typically, banks observe holidays on the national occasions such as Independence Day and Republic Day. However, Republic Day, which falls on January 26 every year, is coming on a Sunday this time and therefore, bank employees will not get an extra off on the occasion and will have to make do with the weekend leave. 

The list of bank holidays is published every year by the Reserve Bank of India. This list is decided by the central bank and includes national and state-based festivals, weekend holidays, and national occasions. Typically, banks across the country observe a holiday on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturday every month.

During these holidays, the physical branches of the banks are closed for the public. However, customers can access the digital banking services, ATMs, and mobile banking without any interruption. The bank holiday calendar for the whole year is published by the RBI and this calendar is followed by banks across the country.
