WhatsApp is introducing fun new features to improve the texting and calling experience ahead of the new year. The company announced this on Thursday. WhatsApp users will be able to take advantage of new calling effects with a New Year theme during video calls, however, this benefit will be available only for a limited time. Apart from this, the instant messaging platform has also introduced new animations and sticker packs keeping in mind the festive atmosphere. Also, let us tell you that another platform owned by Meta i.e. Instagram has recently introduced a limited-time feature called 2024 Collage.

According to WhatsApp, now users can make video calls during the holidays and apply festive backgrounds, filters, and effects for New Year celebrations. New animated reactions will also be available in it. When a user reacts to a message using the selected party emoji, a confetti animation will appear for both the sender and the receiver.

The instant messaging platform has also introduced new stickers. Keeping the New Year theme in mind, a curated New Year's Eve (NYE) sticker pack has also been made available along with new avatar stickers. WhatsApp says that these features are a great way to wish the holiday in a fun and interactive way.

This feature is included in the list of features added to WhatsApp in recent weeks. Last week, the company introduced several effects for video calls, including puppy ears, underwater and karaoke microphones. Now users can choose from a total of 10 effects. Apart from this, users can now select specific participants for calls in groups without disturbing the entire chat.

WhatsApp had earlier introduced typing indicators for real-time engagement in chat. After its arrival, users see visual signs in the chat. Also, the profile photo of the user who is typing in an individual or group chat is also visible.

Recently, another feature called Voice Message Transcript has been added to WhatsApp. As the name suggests, WhatsApp offers users a text-based transcription of the voice messages received from others through this feature. However, only the receiver can see the transcript of the voice message, not the sender. The platform has emphasized that the transcripts are created on the device itself and no other person can listen or read its content.
