WhatsApp has been working on the chat message translation feature since July. Now it has been revealed that the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is also working on a feature that will translate channel updates into multiple languages. Here we are telling you in detail about WhatsApp's chat translation feature.
This has been revealed by WABetaInfo, where the feature was revealed in version 2.24.26.9 of WhatsApp beta for Android. It is currently not available to beta users as it is still a work in progress, but the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo have revealed that there will be a toggle to translate messages in new updates and chats in the channel.
This translation will take place on the device itself without the need for an active internet connection due to security and privacy. Therefore, users will need to download a language pack to use the translate feature, which means that the translation will be accurate. This is important for privacy. WhatsApp will initially support English, Hindi, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, and Portuguese languages, but more languages can be included later. However, there is no information from WhatsApp about when this translation feature will be introduced for everyone.
The company has previously announced a new calling feature for desktop and mobile users. To begin with, WhatsApp users can now select specific members from group chats for calls without disturbing all the group members. Apart from this, 10 effects can also be selected for video calls. WhatsApp on desktop makes it easier to make calls, create a call link, or directly dial a number when users click on the call tab. WhatsApp also says that now you can get high-resolution videos for 1:1 and group calls.
