Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill 2024 has been introduced to give strength to the new law related to banking laws. The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 has recently been passed in the Lok Sabha. Its objective is to make the banking system more modern and improve the customer experience.
The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 has brought several important changes to protect the rights of customers and increase the transparency of the banking system. While presenting the bill, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government's aim is to strengthen the banking sector, so that banks remain safe and stable.
What will be the changes?
According to earlier rules, account holders could nominate only one person, but now account holders can nominate multiple people. This will benefit that people will be able to distribute money properly for their financial needs or family members. Apart from this, a new nomination system has been introduced for bank lockers, so that there will be no problem in distribution of funds if the account holder passes away.
Improve security and accessibility
With these new rules, it will be easier for the family or nominee of the depositor to access the money after his death. This will create more confidence in the banking system and people will leave informal financial methods and join the formal banking system.
What changes will there be for customers?
Now customers will be able to distribute money among multiple nominees as per their needs, which will provide more flexibility. Till now, when an account holder died, the process of receiving the money became quite complicated.
Now with the new rules this process will become simpler and faster, which will reduce legal problems. These changes have been made keeping in mind the changing needs of the customers. This will improve the banking experience of customers and also increase their confidence.
