Obnews Tech Desk: WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature for beta testers, which will make it much easier to track messages and status updates. This feature will notify users about status updates and messages that they have missed. In the new beta version, this feature has been limited to updates of priority contacts, so that only important information reaches the users.
How will the reminder feature work?
According to WABetaInfo, this feature is being tested in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.25.29. To activate it, users need to go to Settings > Notifications > Reminders section of their app. The feature description in this section clarifies that WhatsApp will now provide reminder notifications for both messages and statuses.
Features of reminder feature
- Unseen messages: If you have not read any message, this feature will remind you through notification.
- Status Updates: You will also get reminders for missed status updates.
- Priority: This feature will only track updates to your important and priority contacts.
WhatsApp's next step
WhatsApp has not yet officially shared information about when this feature will be available to all users or how it will work. It is also not clear whether the reminder will work for all ignored messages and status updates or only for selected updates.
