The group voice chat feature is an advanced version of group calls, designed for seamless communication without any hindrance. When a voice chat starts, group members receive a push notification, informing them that the chat has started.

New upgrades and features

Floating action button: A new floating button appears right above the send message icon on the group chat screen. This added feature makes starting and managing voice chats intuitive and enjoyable.

Gesture-based voice chat: With the update, users can start a voice chat by simply performing a scroll gesture, making the process quick and user-friendly.

Small groups: Initially, the feature was meant for groups with more than 32 members, but now the feature is available for smaller groups as well, increasing its utility.

Automatic closing: If no participant joins the voice chat within 60 minutes of starting, the session will end automatically, ensuring its efficient use.

Availability and rollout

The feature appears in the WhatsApp beta version 2.24.25.22 update for Android. Also, many users have found it in the stable version.
