Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make fact-checking easier. You will not need to visit any other site for a fact check, although this fake check will be a photo only.

You will be able to check whether the photo is real or fake from WhatsApp itself.

WhatsApp has started testing a new feature, which will help users quickly get information about the image that they have received from another user. This feature will allow users to reverse lookup the image with just a few taps, that is, you will be able to know the reality of a photo by using reverse image technology.

At present, this feature has been released for beta users. With the help of this feature, you will be able to identify manipulated media files on WhatsApp. This feature can be seen in the new beta version 2.24.23.13 of WhatsApp.

According to the report, this feature is named 'Search on the Web'. The image lookup feature is being tested. According to a report by WABetaInfo, after this update, beta testers will be able to use a new feature in the media viewer while opening images in chats. This new feature performs a reverse image search, which asks permission from the users to upload the image.

This feature relies on Google's reverse image search function and WhatsApp has clarified that no processing takes place on the images without the consent of the users. The messaging platform owned by Meta has also said that it does not have any access to the images before, during, or after sending them for processing.
