The Nifty recovered nicely from morning lows on Tuesday, continuing its comeback for a second straight session. For the second straight session, banks—including PSU Banks—performed nicely, according to Deepak Jasani, head of retail research at HDFC Securities.

The smallcap index increased by 0.71 percent, while the BSE midcap gauge increased by 0.74%.

“The Nifty had a rough start, but as the session went on, a strong recovery was fueled by resilience in a few heavyweights, especially in the banking industry.” Senior V-P (Research), Ajit Mishra, Religare Broking Ltd.

According to dealers, the recovery was aided by strong worldwide trends and unrelenting purchases by domestic institutional investors (DIIs). The State Bank of India rose 5% from the 30 Sensex pack, followed by Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, NTPC, Adani Ports, and Bajaj Finance. On the other hand, the laggards were Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Maruti, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, and IndusInd Bank.
