According to the Reserve Bank (RBI) , banks will remain closed on Wednesday i.e. 16 October 2024. The names of some public and private sector banks are also included in this list. The reason for the holiday in banks is the festival of Lakshmi Puja on 16 October. All banks in Kolkata and Agartala will remain closed on this day. Apart from this, work will continue in the rest of the banks in the country.

Let us tell you that Lakshmi Puja is a very special festival in West Bengal. This festival is celebrated after Durga Puja. This festival is dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity and good fortune. Due to this, banks will not work in Kolkata on 16 October 2024.

Banks will be closed in Kolkata, Agartala on October 16 for Laxmi Pujan (Wednesday).
Banks will be closed in states like Karnataka, Assam and Himachal Pradesh on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu on October 17
, 2024 (Thursday). Banks will be closed in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Accession Day on October 26, 2024 (Saturday).
Banks will be closed across the country on Diwali (Deepawali) on October 31, 2024 (Thursday).
