Banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other states due to Eid-e-Milad. At the same time, on September 17, banks will remain closed in some places like Sikkim and Chhattisgarh due to Indrajatra and Eid-e-Milad (Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Bank Holiday 2024). Banks will remain closed on September 18 in Maharashtra

At the same time, according to a press release issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on September 14, the Maharashtra government has declared September 18, 2024 as a public holiday under Section 25 of the Commercial Papers Act, 1881. The public holiday declared earlier on September 16, 2024 has been canceled. Accordingly, there will be no transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, currency markets and rupee interest rate derivatives on September 18, 2024. The settlement of all pending transactions on September 18, 2024 (Wednesday) will be postponed to the next working day i.e. September 19, 2024 (Thursday). With this, people living in Maharashtra can go to the bank and get their important work done.

There will be no work in the bank for a total of 15 days in September

This includes Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. During this time there will be no work in government and private banks (September 2024 Bank Holidays). Banks are also closed on Sundays every week. Apart from this, many festivals come in the country and banks remain closed on the occasion of these festivals.

Banks may remain closed on different days in each state. Therefore, a holiday in one state does not mean that there will be a holiday in another state as well. Always check the list of holidays before going to the bank so that you do not face any problem. 

Bank Holidays September 2024

17 September 2024: Banks will be closed in Chhattisgarh and Sikkim on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi.

18 September 2024: Banks will be closed in Sikkim on the occasion of Pang-Lhabsol.

20 September 2024: Banks will be closed in Jammu and Kashmir and Srinagar on the Friday following Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.

21 September 2024: Banks will be closed in Kerala on the occasion of Sri Narayana Guru Samadhi Diwas.

22 September 2024: Banks will be closed across the country due to Sunday.

23 September 2024: Banks will be closed in Jammu and Kashmir and Srinagar on the occasion of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji's birthday.

28 September 2024: Banks will be closed across the country due to the fourth Saturday of the month.

29 September 2024: Banks will be closed across the country due to Sunday.
