According to the recent report of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), India's UPI service has overtaken global giants like China's Alipay and America's PayPal. But sometimes you get stuck in a situation where there is no internet and it becomes difficult to make payment, let's know how you can make payment without internet in such a situation-

UPI payment without internet: how it works

Before making an offline UPI payment, ensure the following:

Your Aadhaar and mobile number are linked to your bank account.

Your UPI ID is created using your bank account and mobile number.

2. Using USSD code for offline UPI payments

Dial USSD code: Enter *99# on your phone’s dial pad and press the call button.

Welcome message: You will receive a welcome message from the *99# service. Tap “OK” to proceed.

Select option: On the next screen, you will see various options like Send money, Request money, Check balance, My profile, Pending request, Transactions, and UPI PIN.

Initiate payment: Select “Send money” if you want to make a payment or “Request money” if you want to receive money.

Enter details: Select an option like mobile number or UPI ID to specify the recipient. Enter the required details.

Enter UPI PIN: Finally, enter your UPI PIN to complete the transaction.

By following these steps, you can successfully execute UPI payments even in the absence of internet connectivity.
