Cricket News Desk. There is no dearth of talent in Indian cricket. Every year many new faces emerge, be it batsmen, all-rounders or bowlers. But only a few of them are able to establish themselves in Team India on the basis of luck and talent. After 24 years, the player has told the story of his career, whose career ended due to the decision of the BCCI Secretary.

Debut was against Pakistan

We are talking about Gyanendra Pandey whose statistics in domestic cricket are sky-high. He played cricket with legends like Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. Team India's entry happened in the year 1999 in a great match against Pakistan. He performed excellently in Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Challenger Trophy, after which he was selected in the Indian team. But unfortunately the career of this brilliant all-rounder ended within a week. After Pakistan, it was neglected. Now the player has broken the silence on his story after 24 years. He has very good things to say about former BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele.

What did Pandey say?

According to Pandey, he was ignored and he could have got a place in the upcoming series against New Zealand. In an interview to Lallantop, he said, 'I performed well in 1997. I scored 44 runs and took three wickets in the final of Duleep Trophy. My performance in Deodhar Trophy was excellent.' North Zone includes Vikram Rathore, Virender Sehwag and Navjot Sidhu. I took five wickets and scored 23 not out. I scored 89 not out against West Zone and took 2-3 wickets against East Zone. Against South Zone, I scored 28 or 30 not out and took 2-3 wickets. I dismissed Robin Singh and Amay Khursia in the Challenger Trophy. For India A, I took two wickets for 26 runs and then I was included in the Indian team. This is from the year 1999.

'We couldn't handle it'

Lallantop reported that you have been selected for the Test series against New Zealand. But then suddenly the BCCI secretary's statement came, 'If Kumble had asked for a break, he had to play left-handed, then why was Sunil Joshi not selected?' To this, Pandey said, 'Leleji should have thought about what he had to say. He should have seen my performance. He was also an umpire. I understand, it was my mistake. I did not know the tricks, I did not understand how these things work. I could not handle it and hence got defamed.' Even the media did not print my story. No one came to ask me anything. They themselves contacted the higher officials. Pandey now works as a PR agent in SBI.
