SBI Chairman: The chairman of the country's largest lender SBI (State Bank of India) has been replaced. SBI chairman Dinesh Kara retired on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Now CS Shetty (Challa Srinivasulu Shetty) has replaced him as the head of SBI. As per tradition, the chairman is appointed from among the existing managing directors of SBI. Usually the most senior managing director is the chairman of the bank. Shetty also chaired various task forces and committees set up by the Government of India. He also oversees the bank's retail and digital banking division. CS Shetty earlier joined the SBI board in 2020 as MD and currently leads the country's largest lender's international banking, global markets and technology divisions. Earlier, Shetty was Head of Retail and Digital Banking. Shetty, a graduate in agricultural science and a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, started his career at SBI in 1988 as a probation officer. He has deep experience in corporate lending, retail, digital and international banking and banking in developed markets. On June 29, 2024, FSIB recommends the name of CS Shetty FSIB, the search body for Directors of Public Sector Banks and Financial Institutions. FSIB said in a statement that the bureau is recommending Challa Srinivasulu Shetty for the post of chairman of SBI, considering performance, experience and existing parameters. As per tradition, the chairman is appointed from among the existing managing directors of SBI.
