New Delhi: Banks will remain closed on Monday, August 26, 2024 in some regions as per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). However, this closure will not be uniform across the country, and banking services will continue in many major cities. Since bank holidays may vary by state, customers are advised to check with their local bank branch for the exact schedule of holidays.

• Patna (Bihar)
• Ranchi (Jharkhand)
• Ahmedabad (Gujarat)
• Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh)
• Bhubaneswar (Odisha)
• Chandigarh (Union Territory)
• Chennai (Tamil Nadu)
• Dehradun (Uttarakhand)
• Gangtok (Sikkim)
• Hyderabad (Telangana)
• Jaipur (Rajasthan)
• Jammu, Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir)
• Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh)
• Kolkata (West Bengal)
• Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh)
• Raipur (Chhattisgarh)
• Shillong (Meghalaya)
• Shimla (Himachal Pradesh)

In these states, banks will remain closed on 26 August on account of Janmashtami. This closure will affect both public and private sector banks in these areas.

Where will banks be open?
While banks will remain open as usual in major financial centres like Mumbai and New Delhi, states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Assam, Kerala and Goa will have normal banking operations on this day.
