SBI Mutual Fund | Launched in July 1999, SBI Contra Fund, the first contra-oriented mutual scheme in India, recently completed a 25-year milestone. The fund has delivered 19.99% returns since inception against its benchmark BSE 500 TRI's 16.12%, providing a CAGR of 28.39% in five years, 29.64% in three years and 47.23% in one year. The scheme's benchmark (BSE 500 TRI) delivered 19.95%, 19.97% and 38.40% returns, respectively, during the same period.

Lumpsum investment gave a return of Rs 1 crore
This means, if an investor had invested a lump sum of Rs 1 lakh in the scheme at the time of launch, the investment would have been around Rs 95.3 lakh by June 28, 2024.

SIP investment gave a return of ₹7.19 crore
If an investor had made a monthly SIP investment of ₹10,000 at the time of launch and continued till June 30, the investment would have been around ₹7.19 crore, resulting in an XIRR of 20.84%.

Investors got rich – generated huge SIP returns
The scheme generated SIP returns of 17.94% in 15 years, 21.84% in ten years and 35.62% in five years. The program generated SIP returns of 34.25% in three years and 48.68% in one year. The benchmark BSE 500 TRI generated XIRR of 15.86% in 15 years, 17.73% in 10 years, 24.82% in five years, 25.40% in three years and 43.02% in one year.

Apart from this, SBI Contra Fund has an allocation of 37.69% in large caps, 13.86% in small caps, 25.14% in mid caps and 23.31% in others.
