Hyderabad: A teenager in Hyderabad allegedly died after a horse kicked him in the stomach during a Muharram procession. The incident took place during the procession when the victim was walking behind a horse amidst a massive crowd on the street. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he reportedly succumbed to his injuries in liver.
The deceased, identified as Mohd Ibrahim (17), a resident of Ghazimillat colony in Hyderabad, was pursuing his intermediate second-year course at a private college.
According to the police, Ibrahim went to attend a Muharram procession at Engine Bowli in Falaknuma on Thursday evening with his friends.
During the procession, the victim was walking along with other participants when a horse that was part of the procession kicked him in the stomach. The boy fell on the road and was shifted to hospital after he complained of stomach pain.
The doctors had advised the family members of Ibrahim to shift him to another hospital for better treatment. However, they took him home.
Two days later, when Ibrahim complained of stomach pain again, the family took him to OGH where doctors said that Ibrahim's liver was damaged. He later died during treatment on Sunday, sub-inspector, Shahalibanda, Tayyab Khan said.
A case of suspicious death was registered and a probe was initiated.
