Cyber Fraud: The number of online cyber frauds is increasing in the country. And the government of the country is now worried about this cyber fraud. A warning has been issued by the government to make the common people aware. The central government is warning in various ways so that common people do not fall into the trap of this type of fraud (Cyber Scam) and lose their hard-earned money. This time fraud in the name of Post Office (Post Office Scam Alert) has come to light. It is known that fraudsters are looting money by sending messages in the name of post office.
What PIB Fact Check Says
PIB Fact Check reports that common people are being sent messages to update their addresses by the name of the post office in several cases. The message gives people a certain time frame and says that if they don't update the address within that time frame, a parcel that was supposed to arrive in their name from the post office will be returned.
How fraudsters are setting the trap
In this message, the fraudsters inform the general public that a package is supposed to arrive from a user and that the package will be returned if they do not update the address. And because of not updating this address, that package will not be delivered. The package will be returned. And in this message, a link is given, by clicking on this link, the fraudsters say that the address should be updated. Customers can immediately update this address at home and fraudsters assure that they will receive the package at the specified address within 24 hours of updating the address.
False packages are mentioned
This does not usually happen. Because no package was supposed to arrive. Common people step into this trap without understanding so much. They open the link and keep updating the address. That link is to a website where after providing all the information including the address, the person becomes the owner, the fraudsters deduct all the money from the bank account.
Don't forget to click on this link, the warning center
PIB fact check shows that such messages are fake. India Post does not send any such message for address updates. As a result, such messages should be avoided. Do not click on any suspicious links.
