Tottenham Hotspur welcome Everton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday for a Premier League clash, with Spurs still searching for their first win of the season while the visiting Toffees have yet to taste defeat.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are 18th with one point and picked up their first result of the campaign last weekend with a goalless draw away at Nottingham Forest. However, they are one of only three Premier League teams still without a goal this season and could fail to score in their opening four league matches for the first time in the club’s history.

Everton sit eighth on five points and maintained their unbeaten start with a 2-2 home draw against Manchester United. David Moyes’s men came from behind in that game, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles scoring a stunning strike. This will be the first meeting between the sides since Tottenham’s 1-0 victory on the final day of last season, a result that ensured Spurs stayed in the top flight. James Maddison remains a doubt because of a shoulder injury. Although he has returned to training, he was not included in the matchday squad against Forest. Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are all sidelined with knee injuries, while Mykhaylo Mudryk has picked up a fresh ankle problem after returning from more than 600 days out and is expected to be unavailable for six to eight weeks.

James Garner is not yet viewed as fully fit following the injury that gave Ainsley Maitland-Niles his opportunity to come in and score against Manchester United. Hayden Hackney is expected to line up alongside Harrison Armstrong in central midfield. Jack Grealish is likely to come back into the side in place of Brennan Johnson. Tottenham have lost their last two Premier League matches and drawn the other one without scoring. In their most recent outing at Forest, they had 59% possession and managed 11 shots but still failed to find the net. Only Aston Villa and Coventry City share their goalless start to the season.

Everton are still unbeaten in the league this season, having recorded two wins and two draws. Their away record, though, tells a different story, as they are without a win in their last six league matches on the road and required a stoppage-time equaliser from Tarkowski to rescue a point at Bournemouth.
