Madhya Pradesh is preparing to launch a new scholarship scheme to provide financial assistance to the meritorious children of construction workers for higher education preparations. Under the 'Bhavan evam Anya Sannirman Shramik Shri Medha Chhatra Unnayan Yojana' (Building and Other Construction Workers' Meritorious Student Upliftment Scheme), selected students will receive financial aid of ₹7,500 per month. This amount can be used for expenses such as studies, books, hostel accommodation, commuting, and coaching fees. The scheme also covers preparation for entrance exams like NEET, JEE, and CLAT. In the initial phase, there is a proposal to benefit up to 600 students. The draft of the scheme is ready, and preparations are underway for its early implementation.

**600 students to benefit in the first phase**
In the first phase of the scheme, 500 students will be selected from the 'Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board' and 100 students from the 'Labour Welfare Board'. Selected students will receive ₹7,500 per month. The government will initially implement this as a pilot project. If the scheme proves successful, consideration may be given to increasing the number of beneficiaries and adjusting the cutoff criteria.

**80% marks in Class 10 required**
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the student must be enrolled as a regular student. Their father or mother must be registered with the Board as a construction worker. Additionally, conditions regarding the duration of registration and having worked for at least 90 days must be met. Students are required to have secured at least 80 percent marks in Class 10.

**Benefits to continue with 75% marks in Class 12**
Students will be selected based on a combined merit list from the Madhya Pradesh Board and CBSE. There is a provision to select up to 500 students annually, with 20 percent of the seats reserved for female students. To continue receiving benefits after selection, students must secure at least 75 percent marks in Class 12.

**Assistance for NEET, JEE, and CLAT preparation**
The scholarship amount can be utilized for coaching for exams like NEET, JEE, and CLAT, in addition to covering expenses for tuition fees, books, hostel accommodation, and other educational needs. The objective of the scheme is to support talented children from economically weaker worker families in their further studies and preparation for competitive examinations.
