Chelsea Women head coach Sonia Bompastor has confirmed that Melvine Malard will miss Sunday’s meeting with her former club Manchester United because of injury.
The French forward suffered a knock in training last week and was also absent for Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the Women’s Super League season.
"Unfortunately she won’t be able to return to Man United and play the game," Bompastor said.
"She’s close to returning, but probably next weekend."
Mayra Ramirez and Manaka Matsukubo will also remain unavailable, but Nathalie Bjorn is back in full training and will travel with the squad.
"All of them won’t be available to play this game," Bompastor added.
"Nat Bjorn is starting to train fully with the team so she will be travelling with us. We will see if she has minutes or not."
