NMC MBBS Seat Matrix 2026: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the revised MBBS seat matrix for the 2026-27 academic session. The NMC had previously issued the initial MBBS seat matrix for this session on July 15. Subsequently, based on data from September 1, a revised seat matrix was released on September 10; this update grants operational approval to 13 new medical colleges for the current session and adds 3,275 new MBBS seats for admission.

Admissions Now Open for 140,214 MBBS Seats
The NMC released the revised MBBS seat matrix for the 2026-27 academic session on September 10, bringing the total number of MBBS seats to 140,214. This means admissions will now be conducted for a total of 140,214 MBBS seats. The seat matrix issued by the NMC on July 15 listed a total of 136,939 MBBS seats; thus, 3,275 new seats have been added in the revised matrix.

Significant Increase in Private Medical College Seats
A total of 3,275 MBBS seats have been added in the NMC's revised seat matrix, with the majority of the increase occurring in private medical colleges. The seat matrix issued in July showed 73,643 MBBS seats in private medical colleges, a figure that has risen to 76,243 in the revised matrix. Similarly, the number of MBBS seats in government medical colleges has increased to 63,971, up from the 63,296 seats listed in the July matrix. 

Recognition for 13 New Medical Colleges
The NMC granted recognition to 13 new medical colleges in August, resulting in an increase of 3,275 MBBS seats. According to the revised seat matrix issued by the NMC, the total number of medical colleges in the country has now reached 836. The seat matrix released on July 15 showed a count of 823 medical colleges; thus, 13 new colleges have been recognized. The NMC has granted recognition to 9 private and 4 government medical colleges.
