Kanpur city. To streamline the traffic system and effectively control noise pollution, Kanpur City Police and Traffic Police conducted a special checking campaign against modified silencers, pressure horns and illegal hooters. Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Ravindra Kumar, in the campaign that ran from 12 to 13 September, intensive checking of vehicles was done at major intersections and intersections of the city.
During the campaign, joint teams of traffic police and local police took action against drivers violating traffic rules and issued challans to a total of 285 vehicles. The police specifically investigated modified silencers installed in two-wheelers, illegal pressure horns installed in trucks and heavy vehicles, blue-red lights and hooters installed unauthorized on private vehicles. Vehicles found violating the rules were challaned on the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Ravindra Kumar said that strict statutory action will continue against those who perform stunts on public roads and disturb peace through modified equipment. He appealed to the drivers not to make any kind of illegal modification in their vehicles and cooperate with the police in maintaining safe and disciplined traffic system by following the traffic rules. He clarified that the campaign against noise pollution and violation of traffic rules will continue.
