New Delhi, 11 September 2026: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo have arrived in New Delhi to participate in the 18th BRICS summit starting tomorrow. Union Minister Jayant Singh welcomed both the leaders at the airport.
The Ministry of External Affairs has said that India and South Africa have friendly and historical relations based on strategic partnership. As BRICS partners, both countries are committed to advancing the interests and aspirations of the 'Global South'.
Regarding India-Uganda relations, the Ministry said that the two countries have friendly relations based on shared history and their partnership in bilateral and multilateral areas is continuously strengthening.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's Foreign Minister Bianca Odumegwo-Ojukwu and Uruguay's Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin have also arrived in New Delhi to participate in the summit. Lubetkin will represent the 'Community of Latin American and Caribbean States' (CELAC) at the BRICS summit.
