Tom Hiddleston and Willem Dafoe got the most unexpected Marvel surprise while filming their new movie together. The fun moment happened while they were shooting their upcoming movie Tenzing in the Lower Mustang in Nepal.

As Hiddleston shared during his recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcasthis and Dafoe’s characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe were recognized by the local monks in the Lower Mustang. If anything, it created a memorable encounter far from the usual Hollywood fan scene.

“We’re in this monastery, and the monks have generously given us this location for a day, and they’re very curious because we have all the filmmaking and cameras and microphones, and we do things again and again and again and retake,” Hiddleston shared. “At the end of the day, we go onto the rooftop, and we take some stills, photographs. And three of the most quiet, sort of self-effacing monks approach us, and one of the monks said, ‘Excuse me, Mr. Loki, Mr. Green Goblin, may we have a photograph?’”

He continued, “Will and I looked at each other, and it was like, ‘Of course you can.’ And yeah, so there are these photographs of the monks. Loki and Green Goblin just up in the high hills at Lower Mustang.”

Hiddleston and Dafoe are set to appear next in their biographical drama film, Tenzing. It is based on the historic 1953 Mount Everest climb.

The movie stars Genden Phuntsok as Tenzing Norgay, the legendary Sherpa mountaineer; Hiddleston as Sir Edmund Hillary, the New Zealand climber; Dafoe as Colonel John Hunt, the leader of the British expedition; and Caitríona Balfe as Jill Henderson.

Directed by Jennifer Peedom and written by Luke Davies, Tenzing tells the true story of how Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary became the first individuals to reach the top of Mount Everest.

Tenzing arrives in select theaters on October 9, 2026, before streaming globally on Apple TV+ on October 16, 2026.
