Speaking at a press conference on Sept. 7, Peter said he opposed cremating his mother, Tam Mei Kam, who died on Aug. 30 at the age of 102, because she had always been afraid of fire.
He said he had instructed his lawyers to seek a court injunction to stop any cremation and planned instead to have her buried at Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery.
Peter said he had already met funeral home executives to discuss arrangements for the ceremony, which is expected to cost about HK$1.5 million, according to Yahoo! Life.
Asked how he planned to pay for the funeral, Peter replied: “Money will fall from somewhere.”
He also said he would disclose previously unrevealed information about Anita Mui’s trust fund and assets after his mother’s burial.

He also dismissed his mother’s previous statements that she had severed ties with him, insisting that he remained a “100% filial son.”
His comments sparked criticism on social media, with some users accusing him of living off his sister’s legacy and urging him to allow both his mother and Anita Mui to rest in peace.
Peter’s former Malaysian wife, Joey, later added to the controversy by making further allegations about his financial habits in an interview with Sing Tao Headline.
Anita Mui, who was regarded as the “Queen of Cantopop”, died at age 40 in December 2003 from cervical cancer, according to the Straits Times.
