India is hosting the 18th BRICS summit this year. The whole world has eyes on this conference and preparations have been made all over Delhi for it. Earlier, efforts were also made to decorate Delhi and cover the slums and poor colonies around major roads with curtains, screens and other means. Now Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has targeted the central government on this. The party alleged that efforts are being made to hide the real picture of Delhi from the guests coming from abroad. The party says that hiding the settlement will not solve the problem there.

AAP shared a cartoon on its official social media account, in which Vision 2027 is written on a mirror and PM Modi is shown looking in the mirror with GDP Superhit written on it. The picture of developed Delhi and Bharat Mandapam is shown in the glass, while slums, garbage and kutcha houses are visible outside the glass.

AAP taunted

AAP taunted with this picture and said, 'Covering the slums with curtains will not change the reality, just like calling 2.6 percent GDP growth as 7.8 percent.' AAP has made this taunt by linking it to the recent debate on GDP. Recently, India's GDP growth rate was 7.8 percent but the opposition and some experts called it a lie served by the government. It was argued that the government has presented these figures by changing the base and in reality the GDP growth is 2.6 percent. This is shown in the picture in which the cartoon of PM Modi has a torn shirt on the back and GDP growth on the front, indicating that things are being hidden.

The issue of covering slums and unauthorized settlements with screens, green covers or other temporary structures around major roads and passageways for international guests in Delhi has been controversial in the past. Questions have been raised on such arrangements being made to enhance the external image of the city before major international events. Now when guests from many countries of the world have gathered in Delhi for the BRICS Summit, this issue has once again become heated. AAP has targeted the central government by posting its picture on social media.

BRICS summit in Delhi

The 18th BRICS summit, hosted by India, is being held in New Delhi on 12 and 13 September. Leaders of BRICS member countries are reaching Delhi for the conference. The summit will begin tomorrow, Saturday. According to the programme, there will be a closed-door meeting of the leaders of BRICS member countries at 2:35 pm. Along with this, many leaders have already reached Delhi before this conference. Today PM Modi has met Russian President Putin and in the next two days PM Modi will meet the heads of state of many countries.
