Before becoming a singer himself, Alex Warren was reportedly known as a Shawn Mendes look alike in high school.
Speaking on the episode of Celebrity Substituethe 25-year-old singer shared the story while stepping into an unusual role as a second-grade teacher at PS11 in Queens.
As part of the visit, the Ordinary hitmaker taught the students about creativity and guided them through creating and filming a music video for hit song “Emerald Eyes.”
One student put him on the spot by asking which artist he would choose to be, to which he immediately quipped: Shawn Mendes.
“I really like Shawn Mendes,” he admitted before asking the elementary school students whether they know of him.
Alex didn’t hold back while describing the 28-year-old Canadian singer, offering plenty of praise for the Stitches singer.
“Shawn is a very good-looking, very popular singer who is what I’d like to say is the human embodiment of a beautiful being,” the Chasing Shadows singer said. “And he sings very well.”
But Shawn’s talent and charm wasn’t the only reason Alex chose him.
“When I was in high school, people said I looked like him, but I don’t see it,” he admitted.
