Manchester United could hardly have wished for a better start to their return to the UEFA Champions League.
Michael Carrick's men surged into a 3-0 lead before half-time against Sabah in their first appearance in Europe's premier club competition since the 2023/24 season.
Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 27th minute, before Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko struck in quick succession right at the end of the first half.
However, it was those latter two goals that would have particularly delighted the Old Trafford crowd, with both Manchester United efforts coming from expansive attacking play and a collective team move.
No fewer than seven players were involved in the build-up to Fernandes' goal, while five combined for Sesko's strike as the Azerbaijani champions were made to suffer further at the Theatre of Dreams.
Has Carrick finally discovered United's missing link?
