New Delhi: Security arrangements have been tightened regarding the BRICS summit in New Delhi. Delhi Police, Paramilitary Force and other security agencies have been put on alert mode for the security of foreign guests and VVIP convoys during the conference. Along with this, armed commandos and snipers have been deployed on tall buildings in New Delhi area. Anti-drone systems and anti-aircraft guns are also part of the security cover.
The event will be held in Bharat Mandapam
The main event of the BRICS conference is to be held in Bharat Mandapam. According to officials, a multi-layer security grid has been prepared around the venue and major hotels where foreign delegates are staying. Special arrangements have been made for security and surveillance during the movement of guests from the airport to the hotel and then to the venue.
According to Delhi Police, a large number of soldiers have been deployed for security arrangements. NSG commandos, SWAT team, anti-sabotage squad and senior police officers have been given different responsibilities. VVIP movement will be continuously monitored through CCTV and other technical means from the command and control room.
Traffic plan on 35 major roads
In view of the movement of VVIP convoys, traffic diversion will be done as per need on about 35 major roads of Delhi. Traffic may be affected on many routes including Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Mathura Road, Janpath, Barakhamba Road and Tolstoy Marg.
For this, 22 diversion points have been identified including Patel Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh Flyover, Mandi House and Oberoi Flyover. During this period, about 5 thousand traffic policemen will handle the arrangements.
In view of security, there will be a ban on drones and other unauthorized flying objects in designated areas. Medical, fire and quick response teams have been kept ready for any emergency. Police has clarified that all the roads will not remain closed continuously. Traffic will be stopped or diverted as per need only at the time of VVIP movement. Metro services will continue as normal, however, passengers have been advised to check the latest information from the respective stations before travelling.
