In a decisive and innovative move to tackle the escalating crisis of substance abuse, the Indian government is significantly expanding its collaborative outreach under the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug Free India campaign). The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has formalised strategic partnerships by signing critical Memorandums of Understanding with several prominent spiritual and socio-cultural organisations. By leveraging the deep societal reach, moral authority, and extensive grassroots networks of renowned spiritual institutions, the administration aims to foster robust community-level awareness, preventive education, rehabilitation support, and nationwide social mobilisation against the devastating impact of drug addiction.

Expanding Institutional Alliances for Grassroots Awareness

The collaborative framework witnessed a major milestone on Wednesday as top ministry officials finalized agreements with key spiritual bodies in the presence of Ministry Secretary Sudhansh Pant. Astik Kumar Pandey, Director of Drug Prevention, officially signed the pacts on behalf of the Ministry with esteemed institutions including the Adhyatmik Vigyan Satsang Kendra, Chinmaya Mission, Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan, and the Hare Krishna Movement. These newly onboarded groups join an impressive coalition of spiritual powerhouses that previously partnered with the government, which already includes The Art of Living, Brahma Kumaris, Sant Nirankari Mission, ISKCON, Shri Ram Chandra Mission, All World Gayatri Pariwar, Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanvantari Ashram, and Patanjali University. During the formal proceedings, Secretary Sudhansh Pant passionately urged the newly allied organizations to utilize their vast spiritual infrastructure and devotee networks to maximize public outreach, transforming the anti-drug initiative into a mass public movement.
