Jigsaw. In view of the increasing traffic in Arrah city and surrounding areas of Bihar, preparations are being made to improve the road network in Bhojpur district. A proposal has been prepared to build two new bypasses in Bihiya and Badhara areas. The purpose of these projects worth about Rs 850 crore is to take out big vehicles from the markets and congested roads.
A bypass of about 6.6 km is proposed in Bihiya. This route will be connected to Ara-Buxar Highway via Kateya-Amrai Nawada via Biada and Tipura. With this, heavy vehicles coming from Jagdishpur will not need to pass through Bihiya Bazaar and ROB area. At present, due to excessive movement of vehicles in this area, there is a traffic jam.
The second project is of Badhara-Babura bypass. There is a plan to develop this 5.85 kilometer long route from Padaria side. After its construction, people traveling to and from Badhara and surrounding villages will get an alternative route to the main road. This route can prove to be especially a relief in case of traffic jam.
There is a plan to increase the road width from the current width of about 7 to 10 meters in both these bypasses. It is estimated that about 5,780 vehicles can benefit from Bihiya bypass and about 4 thousand vehicles from Badhara-Babura route daily. This will provide convenience to the local people as well as vehicles passing through other districts.
Work will proceed after approval
The Road Construction Department has sent the proposal for both the projects to the state headquarters. Now the government's approval is awaited. After getting the approval, the further process to construction will start. Once both the bypasses are ready, the traffic pressure in the busy areas of Bihiya and Barhara is expected to reduce and the traffic will speed up.
