Lakhimpur: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Yogi Adityanath government during a press conference, raising several issues ranging from denial of permission for SP programs to student protests and alleged lack of development work in Uttar Pradesh.
Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government of trying to suppress the opposition's voice and claimed that the administration was creating obstacles in Samajwadi Party programs due to political reasons.
Akhilesh Raises Bulandshahr Program Permission Issue
Speaking about his proposed program in Bulandshahr, Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the government did not allow permission for the event by giving different reasons at different times.
He claimed that initially the administration cited the Sawan period as a reason, later questions were raised over the availability of a helipad, and finally waterlogging at the reserve police line ground was mentioned.
The SP chief alleged that the BJP government was afraid of the growing public support for Samajwadi Party programmes.
Attack Over Teacher Day Events And Police Presence
Akhilesh Yadav also targeted the government over Teacher's Day- programs organized by SP leaders and workers across several districts.
He alleged that police were deployed during these programmes, preventing party workers from interacting with teachers and students. Taking a swipe at the BJP, he said that the ruling party considers spreading hatred as an achievement.
Support For Students Protesting In Prayagraj
The SP chief also raised the issue of students protesting in Prayagraj over teacher recruitment.
Appealing to the protesting youth, Akhilesh Yadav said that they should support the Samajwadi Party and remove the present government. He claimed that several issues to employment and recruitment would be resolved if the SP comes to power.
Akhilesh Targets Government Over Lakhimpur Development
During the press conference in Lakhimpur, Akhilesh Yadav highlighted local development issues and alleged that important projects had been delayed under the BJP government.
He claimed that the file to the reconstruction of Pachpedi Ghat in Lakhimpur had been pending since 2019. Akhilesh said that if the Samajwadi Party forms the government, the construction work would be started on priority.
He also criticized the city's civic infrastructure and said Lakhimpur lacks a proper sewer system. The SP chief promised that a future Samajwadi government would focus on sewer lines and overall urban development.
