New Delhi:The security arrangements in the capital have been strengthened at an unprecedented level in view of the BRICS summit to be held in New Delhi. In view of the participation of a large number of foreign heads of state, heads of government and high level delegations in the conference, Delhi will be kept under multi-layered security cover. Participation of about 16 international organizations is also proposed in the conference, due to which the challenge of security and traffic management has further increased.

Tight security cordon from airport to hotel

Security agencies have considered the entire route from the arrival of foreign guests to their stay and reaching the conference venue as security sensitive. Multi-layered security arrangements have been implemented at the airport and the hotels where the delegates are staying. Additional security forces are being deployed along with increased surveillance at sensitive places. Due to the participation of various countries including Russia, China and Egypt in the BRICS conference, security agencies do not want any lapse at any level. There is continuous coordination between various agencies including the Union Home Ministry, National Security Guard, Intelligence Bureau and Indo-Tibetan Border Police.

15 thousand policemen will handle the security of Delhi

About 15 thousand Delhi Police personnel will be deployed in the capital during the conference. Apart from this, about 200 companies of paramilitary forces will take charge of the security arrangements. There will be tight security at conference venues, hotels, major roads, border areas and sensitive places.

Preparation for evacuation in Bharat Mandapam

Along with security arrangements, complete preparations have been made to deal with emergencies at Bharat Mandapam, the main venue of the conference. An evacuation plan has been prepared to evacuate people and delegates safely in case of any emergency. Security agencies are constantly reviewing preparations keeping in mind possible situations.

Keep a close eye on drones and aerial threats

Security agencies will also remain alert about any possible threat coming from the sky during the conference. Special advisories have been issued regarding drones and other aerial objects. Security agencies will be ready to immediately counter any suspicious drone or aerial activity.

The venue will be under CCTV surveillance

An extensive network of CCTV cameras has been prepared for surveillance at major places to the conference. Apart from the existing cameras, additional cameras have also been installed so that the activities at the venue and surrounding areas can be continuously monitored.

Vigilance increased on borders also

Apart from Delhi, security coordination has also been strengthened with surrounding states. Inter-state coordination meetings have been organized especially regarding the security of border areas. Emphasis has been laid on a system of immediate information sharing between states on suspicious vehicles, drone activities and other security inputs.

Public should pay special attention during VIP movement

Traffic on some routes may be controlled or diverted for a short period during the movement of foreign guests and VIP delegations during the BRICS Summit. In such a situation, an appeal has been made to the common people to follow the advisories and restrictions issued by the traffic police and avoid unnecessary travel through designated routes for VIP movement. The message from the security agencies is clear, there will be no compromise in the security of the BRICS guests and maximum security arrangements will be in place in Delhi during the conference.
