The catechins and caffeine present in green tea may have a mild effect on body weight. However, it cannot be considered a miraculous solution for weight loss. Weight management is more effective with a balanced diet and regular exercise.
2. Beneficial for heart health
Some research has linked green tea consumption to small positive effects on cardiovascular risk factors such as blood pressure and cholesterol. The elements present in green tea are considered to be one of the possible reasons for this.
3. May affect cholesterol
According to studies, green tea can help in reducing total cholesterol and bad cholesterol i.e. LDL to a small extent. However, its effect is limited and it is not a substitute for cholesterol medicines.
4. The body gets antioxidants
Compounds like polyphenols and catechins are found in green tea. These may affect processes to oxidative stress in the body. For this reason, green tea is considered a part of a balanced diet.
5. Helps you feel active throughout the day
Green tea contains caffeine, which can help increase mental alertness and awareness. However, the amount of caffeine can have different effects depending on the sensitivity of the person.
