South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has imposed a 10 million won (US$7,461) fine on Korean Air for a critical aviation security breach.

The fine was issued after a group of international travelers arriving at Gimpo Airport were taken to the domestic terminal by mistake.
As a result of the confusion, four passengers walked out of the airport without undergoing mandatory immigration checks.
The incident happened on Korean Air flight KE2106, which had flown in from Tokyo on June 7, according to The Korea Herald.
After landing, passengers got on shuttle buses meant to take them to the international terminal, but one bus carrying 52 passengers accidentally drove to the domestic terminal instead.
Unaware of the wrong drop-off location, the passengers walked into the building alongside domestic passengers arriving from other flights.
The four passengers later returned to the airport to complete their immigration checks, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.
Korean Air said it worked with airport authorities to make sure all 52 passengers were properly processed.
It claimed that the bus driver, who worked for a ground handling company, took the wrong route by mistake.
The airline has apologized for the breach.
