Asia Cup, Pakistan into semi-final: After the defeat against India, Pakistan has made a strong comeback in the Asia Cup. In the match played against Hong Kong, Pakistan registered a spectacular win by 72 runs and made it to the semi-finals of Asia Cup 2026. The biggest heroine of this victory was left arm spinner Nashra Sandhu, who did such a feat with the ball that no female bowler of Pakistan could do before.
Nashra Sandhu took 6 wickets for just 7 runs against Hong Kong. With this, she became the first bowler for Pakistan to take 6 wickets in an innings in women’s T20I cricket. Hong Kong’s entire batting disintegrated in front of his lethal bowling and while chasing the target of 144 runs, the team was all out for just 71 runs in 19 overs.
Asia Cup: Sandhu took 6 wickets
The Hong Kong team, which came to chase the target of 144 runs, lost two wickets for 28 runs after the powerplay. After this Nashara Sandhu took the ball and destroyed Hong Kong’s batting. She first broke the partnership between Yasmin Daswani and Kari Chan and then sent Marina Lamplow and Maryam Bibi to the pavilion in just four balls. This reduced Hong Kong’s score to 40/5 and four more wickets fell within the next 15 runs. Ultimately the entire team was reduced to 71 runs in 19 overs.
Asia Cup: Historic record created for Pakistan
Nashra Sandhu took 6 wickets for just 7 runs in her four overs, which is the best performance by a bowler of Pakistan women’s team so far in Women’s T20I. She has become the first female bowler for Pakistan to take 6 wickets in an innings of Women’s T20I. This is the second time in this tournament that a bowler has taken 6 or more wickets. Earlier, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Atapattu had taken 7 wickets for 7 runs against Indonesia. Sandhu also became the third bowler for Pakistan to take a five-wicket haul in Women’s T20I. Before him, Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail had done this feat.
Asia Cup: Shawal Zulfikar took charge of Pakistan’s innings
Earlier, while batting, Pakistan had scored 143/8 in 20 overs. Shawal Zulfikar played an important inning of 47 runs in 35 balls, while Ayesha Zafar scored 26 runs. Hong Kong’s Joyleen Kaur bowled brilliantly and took four wickets, but her team could not stand against the score made by Pakistan. Chasing the target, Kari Chan struggled by scoring 30 runs, but she did not get enough support from the other end and the entire Hong Kong team was bundled out for 71 runs.
Asia Cup: Will compete with Sri Lanka on 11th September

Now Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the semi-finals. This match between the two teams will be played on September 11, where Pakistan will be eyeing a win and making it to the finals.
