There are many types of blood cancer and it can affect different blood cells present in the body. Mainly blood cancer is divided into three large groups. Leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. The symptoms, speed of the disease and method of treatment may be different for these three.

1. Leukemia

Leukemia is a cancer affecting the blood-forming tissues, especially the bone marrow. In this, abnormal blood cells start forming rapidly. Due to this, the number and function of healthy red blood cells, platelets and white blood cells in the body can be affected.

There are many types of leukemia. Some types spread quickly, while others develop slowly. Its possible symptoms may include constant fatigue, weakness, frequent fever, frequent infections, unexplained weight loss, and easy appearance of blue marks on the body.

2. Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a blood cancer affecting the body's lymphatic system. In this, white blood cells called lymphocytes start growing abnormally. There are two main types of lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In this disease, a painless lump may appear in the neck, armpit or any other part of the body. Apart from this, symptoms like persistent fever, excessive sweating at night, weight loss without any reason and weakness can also be seen.

3. Multiple Myeloma

Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that affects plasma cells. These cells normally help in keeping the body's immune system strong. In this disease, abnormal plasma cells start accumulating in the bone marrow. This can cause problems like bone pain, weakness, anemia and frequent infections. Kidney function may also be affected in some patients.

Which blood cancer is more dangerous?

People often have a question as to which of these three is the most dangerous. There is no definite answer to this. The severity of blood cancer depends on its type, the speed of the disease, its spread in the body, the age and health of the patient, and the body's response to treatment.

Some types of leukemia can progress very quickly and require prompt treatment. Whereas some other types grow slowly. Similarly, in lymphoma and multiple myeloma, the severity of the disease can be different in every patient.
