Tezzbuzz Desk- The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is very special for the devotees of Lord Ganesha. On this day, Bappa is established in homes and pandals and various types of dishes are offered to him. Among these, Modak is considered to have special importance. If you also want to make something different at home this Ganesh Chaturthi instead of bringing modak from the market, then you can try these three easy recipes.
Classic Coconut-Jaggery Modak
Traditional modaks are prepared from rice flour, coconut and jaggery. To make these, you need rice flour, jaggery, grated coconut, poppy seeds, cardamom and some ghee.
First of all, heat water, add rice flour to it and mix well to prepare a soft dough. Keep the dough covered for some time and then knead it well and make small balls.
For filling, heat jaggery lightly in a pan. Add coconut and poppy seeds to it and cook for a few minutes. Finally add cardamom powder, turn off the gas and let the mixture cool.
Now spread the dough ball lightly and fill it with coconut-jaggery filling. Place it in a modak mold and shape it. Modak can be steamed after taking it out of the mold. Offer the prepared modak to Bappa.
Modak with dates and dry fruits
If you want to make modak without much sugar, then modak prepared with dates and dry fruits can be a good option.
For this, take deseeded dates and add almonds, cashews, walnuts or other dry fruits and seeds of your choice and grind them coarsely. Heat this mixture lightly, mix well and let it cool.
Now pour the prepared mixture into the modak mold, press it and give it the shape of the modak easily. In this way delicious dates modak will be prepared.
Chocolate Caramel Modak
Chocolate Caramel Modak can also be made for children and chocolate lovers. For this, prepare the filling by mixing coconut, mawa, choco chips and caramel well.
Now take a small ball of modak dough, spread it and place chocolate-caramel filling in the middle. Put it in the modak mold and shape it well. After removing from the mold, let it set for some time.
Be careful while offering food
While making modak on Ganesh Chaturthi, take special care of the freshness and cleanliness of the ingredients. If you are preparing Modak for offering to Lord Ganesha, then use the ingredients as per the worship method and tradition of your home.
