New Delhi: In Hindu religion, Lord Ganesha is considered the first worshipper. There is a tradition of starting any auspicious work, worship or ritual in the name of Ganapati. Every year the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi starts from the Chaturthi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha and devotees worship Bappa for about 10 days. This year Ganesh Chaturthi will start from 14th September. On this day, the idol of Ganapati is installed in homes and worshiped. If you want to make an eco-friendly Ganpati with your own hands instead of buying an idol from the market, then this easy method can be useful for you.

To make the idol of Ganapati, you need clay, some water, idol shaping tools and a square or round piece of wood. The wooden base should be slightly larger than the idol. Clean it thoroughly and keep it on a flat place.

How to make eco-friendly Ganpati at home

First of all, take a portion of clay, knead it well and shape it into a round ball. After this, make it wide at the bottom and a little thin at the top and give it a pear-like shape. Place the prepared part on the wooden base. Now take some more clay and make a small ball and place it on top of the body and give it the shape of a head.

To make the trunk, take a small piece of clay and add it to the middle of the head. Using water and sculpting tools, smooth out the joint, giving it the correct shape. After this, take two small portions of clay to make ears. Give them a shape like a betel leaf and make them a little longer at the bottom and join them on both sides near the head.

Now comes the turn of the feet. For this, take two pieces of clay and give them an oval shape. Fold the bottom part slightly to make a claw-like shape. With the help of water, stick both the legs well under the idol. After this, prepare both hands from clay. Place one hand in a blessing posture, while the other hand is shaped to hold the modak.

To make eyes, take small portions of wet clay and place them at the right place. Prepare the crown by rolling out small pieces of clay and attaching them as you decorate the top of the head. Now to make Modak, make a small ball of clay and with the help of tools make light stripes on it and give it the shape of Modak. Place it carefully in Ganpati's hand.

Decorate only after it dries

After the idol is ready, give it time to dry thoroughly. When the soil dries completely, decorate the Ganpati idol with beautiful and natural colors of your choice. In this way, you can worship eco-friendly Bappa prepared at home.
