New Delhi: Many serious things have come to light in the FIR regarding the building collapse in Delhi's Satya Niketan on Sunday. According to the police, the building owner Hariram Bansal alias Gupta and his brother allegedly constructed four floors on top of the old building to earn more from the rent. The allegation is that they knew in advance that the foundation of the building was not capable of bearing such additional weight.

According to the police, despite this the construction work continued. Due to new floors and other construction, the pressure on the strength of the building continued to increase. During investigation, the police claimed that the building had gone beyond its load bearing capacity and due to this it suddenly collapsed.

7 people including five students died

At least 12 people have been rescued from the debris in the accident so far, out of which seven have died. The deceased include five students: Abhishek (20), Yuvraj Soni (20), Pawan (17), Arpit Jajaj (19) and Akshat Singh Yadav (18). Apart from this, 75 year old laborer Surinder Singh has also lost his life. The seventh deceased has not been identified yet. Asghar Ali (30), Neeraj Bawan (19), Aditya Kumar (19), Nitish Chib (19) and Mohammad Ayan (18) injured in the accident are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Center and Safdarjung Hospital. The condition of three of them is said to be serious.

PG was running in the building

On the basis of local investigation, it has been told in the FIR that a PG and hostel under the name HostelDaze was being operated in this building. Apart from the ground floor, four floors were built above, where a large number of students and other people lived. Many people got trapped under the debris after the building collapsed. Police have alleged that the owners were aware of the danger posed by additional construction. Despite this, upper floors were built, putting the lives of the people living there at risk.

Owner, wife and son arrested

In this case, FIR number 153/2026 was registered on the complaint of ASI Praful Toppo at South Campus police station on Sunday night. Police have registered a case under sections 105, 290 and 125(a) of BNS. 81-year-old Hariram Gupta, his wife and son have been arrested. Hariram is said to be a retired sergeant of the Indian Air Force. Inspector Narendra Kumar is investigating the case. No name of any person is mentioned in the column of accused or suspects in the FIR. Hariram and his brother are mentioned as the building owners, but the brother's name is not given.
