Diwali and Chhath Special Trains Route: Western Railway has taken a significant decision to manage the heavy rush of rail passengers during the upcoming festive season. The operational period for three pairs—totaling six—of special trains running between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad/Indore has been extended.

According to official information shared by the Railways on the social media platform X, this extension will remain in effect until November 25–30, 2026. This move will make it easier for passengers traveling from Mumbai to Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat to secure confirmed tickets.

Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad Special

Train No. 09087 (Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad): This train will run every Wednesday, and its trips have been extended until November 25, 2026.

Train No. 09088 (Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central): In the return direction, this special train will operate every Thursday; its service has been extended until November 26, 2026.

Two pairs of weekly trains on the Mumbai Central–Indore route

Passengers traveling between Indore and Mumbai will benefit from two separate special train services. 09079 (Mumbai Central to Indore): This train will run every Sunday and Tuesday and will be available until November 29, 2026. 09080 (Indore to Mumbai Central): The return service will operate every Monday and Wednesday until November 30, 2026. 09085 (Mumbai Central to Indore): This train will operate every Monday and Friday until November 27, 2026. 09086 (Indore to Mumbai Central): The return service will run every Tuesday and Saturday until November 28, 2026.

Booking Process and Special Fares Applicable
According to Western Railway, ticket booking for all these extended trains has commenced with immediate effect. Passengers can make reservations via the official IRCTC website/app or at railway station PRS (Passenger Reservation System) counters. These services will operate as special trains, and special fares will apply. Passengers can refer to the official Indian Railways inquiry portal or the NTES App for precise details regarding stoppages, schedules, and coach composition.
